If you’re a winter person—someone who finds peace in the stillness and beauty in the bare bones of the season—and want a unique wedding experience with great memories to share, an outdoor winter wedding in Nova Scotia is for you!
Why We Love Outdoor Winter Weddings at The Bower

When the leaves have fallen and the forest stands bare, there’s nowhere for the eye to rest but on you. The couple becomes the heart of the landscape—your love, your story, your presence. It’s incredibly grounding and powerful.

Snow quiets the world and sharpens the details. A soft dusting makes the woodland feel like a dream.

For photographers, it’s a goldmine: contrast, texture, and that luminous winter light that wraps around everything in a magical glistening.
The Deep Symbolism of Evergreens in Winter Ceremonies

Evergreens are in our DNA—literally in the soil we walk on here at the farm, and spiritually in the way we think about life and love.
Evergreens stay vibrant, even in the deepest cold. Across so many cultures, evergreens have been held as symbols of endurance, protection, and eternal life.
  • The Celts saw them as signs of resilience and sacred continuity.
  • The Romans brought them indoors for Saturnalia, a reminder that life still pulses beneath the frost.
  • In Christian traditions, they represent everlasting life and hope.
  • And the Norse believed evergreens brought protection, warding off the darkness of winter.
When we design a winter wedding, we lean into this meaning—using fragrant cedar, ancient yew, graceful pine, and lush boxwood. They aren’t just decorations; they’re living symbols of love that lasts.
Tips for a Magical Woodland Wedding
  • Embrace layers. Wool wraps, velvet capes, or faux fur stoles keep everyone cozy and stylish.
  • Warm from within. A glass of hot mulled cider, or mulled wine, adds aromatic charm and comfort.
  • Play with light. Lanterns, candles, and fairy lights turn the forest into a glowing wonderland.
  • Go evergreen. Use local winter greens to create naturally stunning, sustainable decor.
A Woodland Ceremony, A Fireside Celebration
Here’s how it feels: You step into the forest, the crunch of snow beneath your boots. There’s a sacred kind of stillness as you approach your partner.

Afterwards, our cabin welcomes you with warmth. The fire is going, the smell of woodsmoke and cedar fills the air, and the people you love are wrapped in warmth and candlelight. It’s that kind of cozy, held feeling that winter does so well.
Plan Your Outdoor Winter Wedding
Let’s create a celebration rooted in the season. One that honors the earth, has memorable moments, and tells your story.
